Selecting Playing XI for a game

Guys,

I was reading articles about how other cricbay team's decide on forming their XI for the game. It looks like Performance-Participation-Commitment index should be a good model to follow with captain and VC rating these factors for the playing XI on a scale from 1 to 10. There are times when players don't perform well but they do participate and committed to the game/team which sometimes goes against their selection. Just curious what blitzz janta things about this.

Kartik,

I agree with the parameters that you want to judge people on. With respect to Blitz, I have noticed that we always have more than 11 who participate in practice, and commit to Blitz. In that case we want to judge them by a third factor. I wont call it performance, but believe that current form is the only parameter that can be used to select a playing XI. However, with respect to Blitz, I feel that the management has maintained a fair rotation scheme to enable team building. On other occassions when it has been difficult to select a playing XI, Blitz veterans have volunteered to sit out to make selection easy. I feel that the current model follows what you have described in your blog. I particularly like that you brought this point out in the open to create a transparency.

PS: I apologize for the comment being longer than the blog itself

i think we do have a fair system within our team..kudos to the senior ppl in the team and the management for being fair to everyone and giving equal opportunity at the same time not compromising on the overall team balance

Write each players name on a small sheet of paper. Ask a random passerby to pick 11 pieces of paper..and you have your fair 11!
